Finding A Right Hand Drive Camaro Conversion

By Jennifer Burns

If you are moving to a foreign country where they drive on the right hand side a lot drivers will have their vehicles controls moved to the other side of the car. If you are looking for a right hand drive camaro conversion there are a few options available to you. It is not against the law to drive the car as standard but making these changes should make your driving experience much more comfortable.

The technical work involved when modifying controls is not just moving the steering wheel and pedals. Mirrors and various switches may also need to be relocated to the right hand side of the car. Some large components such as the brakes and suspension may also need a modification or be adjusted before the car can be driven on the roads safely.

The cheapest method when getting a conversion done is to purchase a kit and carry out the modification work yourself. This will be a cost effective way to convert a car and there are packages made for the Chevrolet camaro. You need to bear in mind that the end results when using a DIY kit will be pretty crude with metal levers and other components left exposed.

There are now many web based auto companies who can supply you with a kit and after a little careful research a suitable one can be found. They will usually be sent on an overnight service and should arrive at your home with the fitting instructions and technical advice. Much of this work may require some tools and specialized equipment and you should check with your supplier before you order and pay for your kit.

The preferred way of getting conversions done is to hand your vehicle over to a professional company. There are companies who can do this work and their final results will be of a high standard. It will obviously cost more than the basic kit conversion but it will be well worth it as the modification work will be covered by their guarantee.

If choose to employ a technician to work on your car, a better finish can be achieved than with a kit. All of the new components that are fitted will be invisible and in most cases the car will look like a factory made right hand drive model. The advantage of using professional companies is that they will usually offer continued maintenance for the vehicle after the modifications have been done.

Whichever method you opt for it is imperative to have all work inspected for safety reasons. Most engineering firms will issue you with a certificate covering work and a list of what has been changed. If the work is done as a project then the vehicle will need to be submitted for the inspections prior to it being driven on the highways.

If you make any alterations to vehicle the original Chevrolet warranty will no longer be valid. Another important thing to bear in mind is that value of your car will probably be lower and it could be more difficult to sell. After having modifications to your vehicle you are required by law to notify your insurance company and there will usually be some changes to your premiums
