How Salt Lake City Transmission Shop Fixes Rock Crawler Transmission Problems

By Lyndon Zerna

Transmissions are complicated devices that can be very expensive to rebuild. If you have a 4x4 vehicle modified for rock crawling, it can make things even more complicated.

If your favorite vehicle happens to be a rock crawler, then it needs even more attention to the transmission, especially since most crawlers had this part changed out in order to improve its output. Changing transmissions out increases crawl ratio to make it easier to participate while extending the torque converter and clutch life.

This, though, means you no longer have a "standard" car - and it becomes even more important to get yours inspected regularly - after all, it failing in the middle of a competition and having to be rescued by one of your rivals is highly embarrassing. This means you need a good repair shop, one which has experience dealing with these special alterations made to suit a vehicle for rock crawling.

When you are looking for a shop and mechanic for servicing, make sure they have experience with these transmissions. They should know the sounds altered vehicles make, and be able to tell the difference between one running smoothly and one that might have issues shifting gears or that has a leak that could be detrimental.

You can also save yourself a lot of heartache by ensuring your chosen mechanic and service center look for leaks. This is especially true with high centered vehicles, so make note of that to prevent bigger, more costly issues later.

A regular Salt Lake City UT transmission repair shop might not understand the particular needs of your hobby - so, again, make sure that your shop knows what they are doing. Help maintain your vehicle by cleaning the under carriage after practice or competition, and get it inspected regularly so you can off-road with confidence.
