By David Wright

When it comes to cars, individuals often have vastly different taste. When it comes to collectors, most belong to an antique auto club. One such organization is related to antique cars. In this case, the organization host members which pay an annual fee then show cars at different events around the world.

The organization's focus has always been on car collectors and associated vehicles. For, most members believe the sight, feel and sound of a classic automobile stirs the imagination and turns back time. Whereas, others are inspired, especially when desiring to travel cross-country in one. Whether due to the clatter of single cylinder brass or a big block engine, there is something that draws collectors to antique automobiles, buses, motorcycles and trucks.

There is a beginning to everything, when collectors are asked how one became interested in antique cars, answers are often similar. In most cases, people suggest there is just something which captures and attracts attention to these automobiles over the course of a lifetime. Of course, enthusiasm tends to ebb and flow based on spare time, work, spare cash, other interests and distractions.

The mission of the organization is the preservation and enjoyment of history related to all types of automobiles. Whereas, the organization also works to bring enthusiasts together at a number of regional and national events each year. These events often include, meet-ups, shows and contests, most often at different types of festivals. In addition, the club produces a magazine which features over 100 pages with pictures, history and information on different models.

While the war was definitely a hardship on the hobby, collectors were steadfast and overcame numerous struggles during that time. In fact, the dedication to the car club during that time often matched the dedication given to the war. Whereas, while the club saw some difficulties, disturbances and uncertainties, it eventually returned and grew into the amazing organization it is today.

Since that time, the organization has become stronger and better with millions of members. As such, individuals can rest assured that the club will be around well into the future. For, without the assistance of the organization in planning regional, national and local events, a number of car enthusiasts would be left without a map to one of the most enjoyable activities in life, the collecting of classic and vintage automobiles.

The club website features a number of sections and pictures of different era antique vehicles which often has something for everyone. In fact, members do not have to own a classic or vintage car or know how to work on one to become involved. For, there are other ways to become involved such as judging, doing research or touring one of the National meet-ups or tours.

Most often, people think these type of organizations are expensive. Fortunately, this is not the case with the antique club in America. In fact, membership often costs less than twelve gallons of gas. As such, the annual cost of membership is often minimal compared to the amount of fun one can have as a member of the organization.
